SCM440 에서의, S는 Steel을
C는 Chrome 를, M은 Molybdenum의 약자이며
숫자 440 에서의 40은 탄소 함량을 의미합니다.
SCM440 탄소 함량 규정 0.38~0.43의 중간 값입니다.
SCM440은 SCM 강종 중,
비교적 많이 사용되는 강종입니다.
봉재 (Bar)와 판재 (Plate), 절단 각재로도 사용되며
SCM440H 강은, 소입성 (경화능) 보증 “H”강입니다.
Cr (크롬)은 스테인레스강의 기본 원소이기도 하며,
구조용강인 SCM 강에서는 강도의 향상과
소입성 (담금질성)을 높여주는 역할을 하며,
Mo (몰리브덴)은 Ni-Cr과 마찬가지로
강재의 결정립을 미세화 시키고,
강도의 향상과 “H”강에서의 Hardenability (경화능) 향상원소 이기도 합니다.
SCM440H steel manufactured by hot forming such as hot rolling and hot forging
and mainly used for machine structural use.
This steel normally used after further forming such as forging and cutting
and heat treatment.
※ Quenching (담금질)
Operation which consists of cooling a ferrous products
more rapidly then in still air.
The use of a term specifying the cooling condition is recommended,
for example air-blast quenching, water quenching, step quenching, etc.
철강재를 공기 중에 두는 것 보다 더 빠르게 냉각하는 작업으로
퀜칭이란 용어를 사용하며, 공냉 (송풍 퀜칭), 수냉, 단계 퀜칭처럼
냉각 조건을 붙여 사용하는 것이 바람직합니다.
※ Hardenability (경화능 : 硬化能)

that is, a performance controlling the hardened depth and
and the distribution of hardness
철강을 퀜칭 경화 시켰을 경우의 경화 용이도, 즉 경화가 되는 깊이와
경도의 깊이를 지배하는 성능을 말합니다.
경화성은, 통상 경화가 되는 깊이의 대소로서 비교하는데, 거기에는
경화성 시험 방법 (한쪽 끝 퀜칭 방법)을 사용 하는게 편리합니다.
