Titanium 합금 중 Ti-5Al-2.5Sn 합금은
좋은 용접성 — Good weldability
고온 환경에서의 강도– Strength at elevated temperature 필요한
항공기용 엔진 부품과 항공기용 Frame으로 사용됩니다.
티타늄 합금은 Pure Titanium (순 티타늄), α-alloy
Near α-alloy , β-alloy, α+β alloy, 5가지 합금군(群)으로 나누고
그 중 Ti-5Al-2.5SN 합금은 α-alloy 분류합니다
α-alloy 합금의 특징은 조밀육방구조를 가지는 금속으로
α-alloy 합금은 주로 고온 구조용 금속으로 사용됩니다.
고온에서 사용되려면, 고온 강도는 물론,
Creep strength, 내산화성, 응력 부식에 견디는 성질이 필요하고
이런 성질을 구비하려다 보니
α-alloy 특징을 가장 잘 발현 시켜주는 합금 원소인
Aluminum — Strength, Creep Strength 향상 합금 원소 을 합금 시키게 되며,
너무 많은 Al 합금시 나타날 수 있는 부작용을 제한하려고
Aluminum을 nominal 3.5% 합금하고
취성 (Brittleness) 없이 티타늄 합금을
고용 강화 시키는 Sn (Tin : 주석)을 합금 했습니다.
