Naval Brass 라고도 부릅니다.
6 : 4 황동인 Muntz 황동의 화학 조성에
Tin (Sn)을 1% 수준을 합금한 금속입니다.
6 : 4 황동인 Muntz 황동에 1%의 주석을
합금 하는 이유는 내식성 (Corrosion resistance) 향상 때문입니다.
동합금에서의 주석은 전연성 (Ductility)를 감소 시키지만
내식성 (Corrosion resistance)을 향상 시킵니다.
C4640 JIS, ASTM C46400 는,
내해수성 (seawater corrosion resistance)이 특히 좋으며,
열간 작업성 (hot workability)과,
열간 단조성 (hot forgeability)이 좋습니다.
열 교환기용 강판 (condenser plates)
용접봉 (welding rod), marine hardware 등으로 사용됩니다
C4640 은 ABS 선급용
C4621 은 LR, NK 선급용으로 주로 사용됩니다.

The property of metals that enables them to be mechanically deformed
when cold, without fracture. In steel, ductility is usually measured by
elongation and reduction area is determined in a tensile test.
