AISI 8740 은 저합금 Ni-Cr-Mo 강재입니다.
Annealed 열처리에서는
695 MPa 수준의 인장강도입니다.
QT 열처리는 Tempering 온도에 따라 다르지만
986~1999 MPa 인장강도 수준입니다.
AISI 8740 은, 항공기와 우주 항공용 소재로 사용됩니다.
JIS 의 기계 구조용강재인 SNCM 강재
주요합금원소에서는 같지만, 비교 가능한 재질이 없습니다.
※ Tempering (뜨임 열처리)
Heat treatment applied to a ferrous product, generally after quench hardening,
or another heat treatment to bring the properties to the required level, and
consisting of heating to specific temperature (＜Ac1 )and soaking one or
more time, followed by cooling at an appropriate rate.
Tempering generally leads to a reduction in hardness
but can, in certain cases, cause an increase in hardness.
철강재를 퀜칭 경화 후, 또는 특정 수준의 성질을 얻기 위하여 (＜Ac1 ) 온도
이하의 특정 온도로 가열한 후 한두 번 균열화한 다음, 적당한 속도로
냉각하는 별도의 열처리로
보통 템퍼링은 경도를 감소 시키지만, 어떤 경우에는 도리어
경도가 증가할 수도 있습니다.
※ 열처리( Heat Treatment : 熱處理)
철강재의 전체 또는 일부에 열 싸이클을 적용하여 그 성질 또는 조직을 변화 시키는
일련의 작업으로, 철강재의 화학 조성은 이러한 작업 과정으로 변할 수 있습니다.

properties and/or structure.

modified during these operations.
