텅스텐 99.95% minimum 함량입니다.
Melting point 3410℃ 금속으로 (철 1536℃)
Refractory metals 중 용융점이 가장 높습니다.
텅스텐의 비중이 19.25 g/㎤ 으로
철 7.85 g/㎤ 비교하면 2.5 배 무겁습니다.
AMS 7898 은 unalloyed 금속으로
AMS 7898 tungsten은 refractory metal (RM metal)이며
고용융점 금속 (highest melting temperature)
저증기압 (lowest vapor pressure) 금속입니다.
이와 같은 금속 (refractory metal) 으로는
tungsten, niobium (also known as columbium)
molybdenum, rhenium, tantalum 이 있고
그 중 tungsten 의 melting point 가, 가장 높습니다…3410℃
AMS 7898 은 이와 같은, 높은 비중, 고융용점, 저증기압 특성은
방사선 흡수 능력 (absorb radioactive radiation)이 필요한
의료 장비 (medical applications) 금속으로 사용되며
고진공 장비 (high vacuum technology)
glass seals, furnace 용도로 쓰입니다.
또한 텅스텐은 고온 경도, 내마모성이 필요한
고속도 공구강 (high speed steel : HSS)의
합금 원소로 사용됩니다.
99.95%, unalloyed, pure tungsten 의 규격으로는 ASTM B760
ASTM F288 — 99.95~99.999% tungsten (R07005) 가 있습니다.

Plate : t≥4.75 mm (0.188 inch) flat products
Sheet : 0.13＜t＜4.75 mm (0.05＜t＜0.187) inch flat products
Foil : 0.13 mm (0.005 inch)≥t flat products
