AMS 4331, 7068 Aluminum Alloy 재질은 7000 series 석출 경화 합금입니다.
7000 series 는,Al-Zn-Mg 합금이고, 2000 series 는 Al-Cu 합금이지만

AMS 4331 은 7000 series 이면서 Al-Zn-Mg-Cu 합금입니다.
AMS 4331 의 장점은 높은 항복강도 (590 MPa minimum)와

2.80 g/㎤ 의 낮은 비중으로 높은 비강도 (比强度 :strength to density ratio) 금속입니다.
7075 보다도 높은 강도이면서, 내식성과 연성(ductility)는 7075 와 비교됩니다.

높은 비강도는 설비의 무게를 줄이고, 두께를 얇게 할 수 있는 장점입니다.
AMS 4331 Alloy 는, 7068 Aluminum Alloy 와 같으며

AMS 4331, 7068 Alloy 의 내식성과 높은 비강도로 우주 항공용 뿐 아니라
connecting rods, high pressure solenoid 등, 산업용으로 사용됩니다.

※ Precipitation Hardening Steels (석출 경화 : 析出硬化)
Steels with the property of being hardened by a method wherein
a small amount of elements such as aluminium, copper, etc.
is added and compounds of those elements or the like are
precipitated by heat treatment

알루미늄, 구리 등의 원소를 소량 첨가하고, 열처리에 의해
이들 원소 화합물을 석출 시켜 경화 하는 성질을 지니게 한 강.

※ Precipitation (석출 : 析出)
A phenomenon in which a crystal of a different phase is
separated from a solid solution and grows.

※ Ductility (연성 : 延性)
The property of metals that enables them to be mechanically deformed
when cold, without fracture. In steel, ductility is usually measured by
elongation and reduction area is determined in a tensile test.

금속에 인장력을 줘 소성 변형을 일으켰을 때, 끊어짐이 없이 선 (line)상으로
늘릴 수 있는 성질을 연성이라고 하고, 연성은 인장 시험에서
연신율 (Elongation), 단면 수축율 (Reduction area; RA)로 측정합니다.
물질이 파괴되지 않고 유연하게 변할 수 있는 능력입니다.
쉽게 말해 물질이 파괴되지 않고 유연하게 변형할 수 있는 능력입니다.
