Copper 30% 수준을 주요 합금 원소로 합금한 금속입니다.

Monel® 은 미국의 Special Metals Corporation Trademark 입니다.
산(acids)과 알칼리, 해수 (sea water)에 높은 내식성, 고온 강도 특징입니다.

주로 사용되는 Monel Metal 종류는 Monel 400
Monel R-405, Monel K-500 입니다.

Monel 400 은, 불산 (hydrofluoric acid)와 황산에 대한 내식성,
알칼리에 저항성, 단조성과 연성 (ductility)을 특징으로 합니다.

Monel 400 대비 Monel R-405 재질은 Free machining (쾌삭성)입니다.
Sulfur (S : 황)를 조금 높게 합금 해, 절단성, 가공성을 높였습니다.

Monel 400 대비 Monel K-500 금속은 석출경화성 원소인
Aluminum 을 3.15% 수준을 합금했습니다.

알루미늄이라는 석출경화성 원소를 합금 해 Monel K-500 은
Monel 400, Monel R-405 대비, 최소 항복강도가 3배 정도 높습니다.

Monel Metal 은 Plate, Sheet, Strip, Pipe, Bar, Wire 제품이며
Springs, Shafts, 유정용 공구, 의료용 도구, marine components,

열 교환기용 부품, 밸브, 펌프, 불산을 사용하는
화학 산업, 우주 항공 용도로 사용됩니다.

※ Precipitation Hardening Steels (석출경화 : 析出硬化)
Steels with the property of being hardened by a method wherein
a small amount of elements such as aluminium, copper, etc.
is added and compounds of those elements or the like are
precipitated by heat treatment

알루미늄, 구리 등의 원소를 소량 첨가하고, 열처리에 의해
이들 원소 화합물을 석출 시켜 경화 하는 성질을 지니게 한 강.

※ Precipitation (석출 : 析出)
A phenomenon in which a crystal of a different phase is
separated from a solid solution and grows.

※ Hydrofluoric Acid (HF : 불산, 불화수소산)
염산 (hydrochloric acid)보다 부식성이 높은 수소와 불소를 물에 녹인 액체로
인체 피부를 뚫고 침투하는, 강한 독성을 가진 화학물질입니다.
위험하지만, 반도체 제조와 유리를 깍아 내는 능력이 탁월합니다.
