SCr415 강재는 Chromium nominal 0.15% 합금강이라서
SCr415 강재에서 숫자 “15”는 탄소량을 의미합니다.
Chromium 을 탄소강에 합금 하면 담금질성이 향상되고, 탄소와 결합되어
안정된 탄화물을 만들어, 침탄 (浸炭)처리에 의한 표면 경도를 높이기 쉽습니다.
탄소강에 크롬을 합금 하면 많지 않은 합금량으로도 내식성, 내열성,
강도와 경도, 자경성 (self hardening : 自硬性)을 높이는 역할을 합니다.
SCr415 강재와 SCr420 강재는 탄소량에서만 약간의 차이가 있는 강재로
표면 경화에 의한 표면 경도는 높지만, 심부는 연성인, 강인성 성질이 가능하고
한쪽 끝 경화능 처리에 의해 경도를 높여 사용하기도 합니다.
SCr415H 는, EN 17Cr3, 1.0716, 17CRS3, 1.0714, Spec 과 비교 가능합니다.
※ Case hardening steel (표면경화강: 表面硬化鋼)

Steels with a relatively low carbon content, which are intented for
carburising or carbonitriding and subsequent hardening.
Such steels, after treatment, are characterised by a high hardness

저탄소강 및 저탄소 합금강으로, 주로 침탄 퀜칭에 의해 표면 경화 시킨 강
표면의 내마모성과 내피로성을 높이지만, 강재 내부의 인성을 유지 시킨 강재.
표면 경화 방법으로는 침탄 (Carburizing), 질화 (Nitriding), 침붕 (Boriding)이 있고
각각 탄소, 질소, 붕소를 강재 표면에 침투 시켜 경화 시키는 방법입니다.
※ Carburizing (침탄 : 浸炭)
Thermochemical treatment which is applied to a ferrous product heated
to a temperature AC1, to obtain a surface enrichment in carbon and
nitrogen, which are in solid solution in the austenite.
Generally, this operation is followed immediately by quench hardening.
The medium in which carburizing takes place should be specified,
e.g. gas, salt bath, etc.
