ASTM A485-2 재질은 베어링강 (anti-friction bearing steel) 입니다.
충격과 회전 피로성을 견디고, 내마모성을 특징입니다.
이와 같은 성질을 가지려면 강재 내부에 편석이나 기공, 산소 (oxygen)과 같은
가스, 불순물이 없어야 되니, 산소를 0.0015% 이하로 제조합니다.
보통 강 (steel)에서는 산소를 강을 취약하게 하는 불순물로 봅니다.
A485-2 강재는 높은 탄소량 — 1% 수준, 높은 크롬 합금 — 1.60% 수준
합금으로, 카바이트 형성이 유리하고, QT 열처리성이 아주 좋은 금속이라서
Through-Hardening (강재 심부까지 완전 경화) 이, 가능한 재질입니다.
ASTM A485-2 재질은 EN-ISO 673-17, 100CrMnSi6-6 재질과 비교 가능하고
보통, 공급시에는 Hot +AC (Annealed to achieve spheroidized carbides)
열간 압연과 구상화 풀림 열처리 조건으로, QT는 수요가에서 실시합니다.
강의 청정성을 체크하는 메크로 및 마이크로 조직 시험 등이 있을 수 있습니다.

Test to examine the qualities of steel such as macro-structure and micro-structure,

macro-streak flows, etc.
The test involves macro-structure and micro-structure examination, grain size
examination, microscopic examination of nonmetallic inclusions, visual test of
macro-streak flows, hadenability test, spark test, etc.
