ASTM A895 규정은 Free-Machining (쾌삭) 스텐레스 재질만
모아 놓은 규정으로, 쾌삭성 원소인 황, 세레늄, 구리를 합금한 내식성을
가지는 스텐레스 재질이며, A895-303 재질은 황 합금 오스테나이트 쾌삭강입니다.
오스테나이트계로 자성 (magnetic)이 없는 특징이고, 내식성이지만, 탄소량이 높아
용접성은 좋지 않고, 내식성이 Type 304 보다는 떨어지는 재질입니다.
A895-303 합금은 ASTM A895 규정에서 화학 원소와 경도만 지정이 있고
강도와 연신율이 규정되 있지 않은 스텐레스로, Typical 항복강도 310 MPa, 인장강도
580 MPa, 연신율 50% 수준이고, 환봉 재료는 ASTM A582 규정의 Type 303 입니다.
A895-303 재질은 Alloy 303, Type 303 Plate, Sheet 라고도 부르고,
오스테나이트 특성상 QT 열처리로 강도를 높일 수 없고, 냉간 압연으로 높입니다.
※ Sulfur (S)
Generally regarded as an impurity in steel as it can have detrimental
effects on strength, ductility, and weldability as well as producing
hot and cold shortness.
Its content in most steels is limited to a maximum of 0.050%.
Sulphur is beneficial to machining and is added to free-cutting steels
in amounts up to 0.35% with the manganese content increased
to overcome any detrimental effects.
황은 강에 대부분 나쁜 영향을 주는 원소로 적열 취성이나 청열 취성과
용접성, 연성, 강도에 부정적인 영향을 주는 원소로 최대 0.050% 로 제한합니다.
황을 최대 0.35% 수준까지 합금 하면 강에 쾌삭성을 부여하고
황의 부정적 영향을 상쇄 시키려고 망간 함량을 높입니다.
